About Us

Beech Hyde is a vibrant learning community where everyone matters. We are passionate about your child's education and strive to ensure they have the best experience and opportunities possible. It is a special place and the 'Beech Hyde buzz' is often commented on by visitors, as they enjoy spending time with our wonderful children and staff.

We work hard and we play hard at Beech Hyde! Behaviour for Learning is a top priority as we have high expectations of all our pupils, making sure that they make excellent progress with their learning from their starting points. We learn from one another and, whatever our talents, children at Beech Hyde are supported to acheive their full potential. Our 'Positive Minds' animals help children to be Team Bees, Independent Rhinos, Risk-taking Pengiuns, Resiliant Tortoise, Curious and Creative Chameleons and Reflective Owls. We like to celebrate acheivements with house points, cups, shout outs and lots more.

Extra-curricular opportuites are a real strength at Beech Hyde, and we offer over 20 lunchtime and after school clubs across the week, over 35 different clubs across the whole year, all but 4 free of charge to parents. We want to ensure children are excited but trying new things and developing their skills in a variety of areas. Participation in sports, drama, art, music, dance, gardening, reading and a variety of games ensures they are having fun, making lasting friendships and learning as they go.

The partnership between home and school is central to our ethos. We operate an 'open door' policy for parents and carers, encouraging them to talk to us about any part of their child's education and welfare. We have a weekly sharing assembly and the children enjoy sharing their work and achievements with their families.

Situated in the lovely village of Wheathampstead, we enjoy a good relationship with our local community. We relish the opportunity to take part in events such as Village Day and Lights Up, and also love to welcome the village to watch our Christmas play and the Wheathampstead Fireworks! We are lucky to work with a variety of local partners, for example St Albans School, Wheathampstead Community Group, Paul Davis Fencing Academy and many more. We utlitse our links when promoting aspiration in our pupils with events such as careers days and Dragons Den projects for Year 6. It is improtant to us that our children see both their own, but also the wider world and all it has to offer.

Above all, Beech Hyde is a caring and positive place to grow up. As a small school we are able to really get to know every child and help them navigate their adventure with us sucessfully. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and consistant staff who work tirelessly to get the very best out of every child. Our children are an inspiration to us, constantly surprising us with their creativity, kindness and excitement about all they are doing.

This website, alongside the video on our Admissions page, gives you a first glimpse of Beech Hyde, but I very much hope that you will want to come and visit us in person.
